The certification is recognized throughout North America to show compliance with building codes and to qualify for programs like ENERGY STAR.

SRCC's OG-400 program provides proof of compliance for complete solar pool heating systems to the current ICC 902/PHTC 902/SRCC 400 standard. OG-400 certification of solar pool & spa heaters ensures that systems meet minimum requirements for safety and durability. Certified systems must properly integrate with pool designs and systems to ensure that critical safety protections for water quality, suction entrapment and maximum temperature are maintained. OG-400 certifications are used to satisfy the requirements of swimming pool codes such as the International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC).

SRCC Listings provide compliance assessments to all major codes and standards used throughout North America for solar heating & cooling equipment. ICC-SRCC listings make it easy for solar thermal product manufacturers to demonstrate code compliance to code officials and consumers. Listings are available for model and state-level plumbing, mechanical and building codes, specific locations like the City of Los Angeles, and for related standards like NSF 50, NMX 001 and CSA F379.

Under the ENERGY STAR Residential Water Heater Specification, products must meet performance, warranty and certification requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They can also display the very widely-known ENERGY STAR mark.
